Why is it that being by the sea really does make everything better? Blowing out the cobwebs, the lapping waves creating some sort of inner calm, everything seems better with some sort of beachy filter.
Normally we are wondering the coastline of Devon, bumbling around Budleigh or strolling through Sidmouth; Come summer or winter its one of my favourite places to be….perfect for a super tight husband too as it free!
This week we explored another of our favourite places (as you will know if you read the blog) Cornwall, in particular Porth, Padstow and surfer paradise Watergate bay, all nestled along the coastline or nearby to Newquay.
Taking time for a change of scene, a couple days strolling on the sand with windswept hair is exactly what I needed to recharge plus the toddler only bit me about 5 times…inset roll eye emoji.. a million ice creams later and some lovely time with a set of parents and we are ready to face the world!
Check out my other Cornwall posts if you fancy some destination inspo

Lusty Glaze has been mentioned to me for a long time now, lots of friends have described it as a MUST place to go when in Newquay therefore, its been on my ‘list’ for a long time. As we were holidaying nearby, it was the perfect opportunity for Ian and I to slip off and enjoy a lunch date together whilst Sonny was thoroughly spoilt by his grandparents.
St Ives you never disappoint, you little gem of beautiful blue sea, creamy sandy beach and hub of of local delights..by this I mean fudge, ice cream you know the situ! .
Back in gloomy February my dad suggested booking a summer mini break to Cornwall and in particular Hayle near St Ives, I think I probably squealed with excitement, July couldn’t come soon enough and already I was planning in my head all the lovely places we would be visiting!
Dad, along with the rest of the family arrived a couple days beforehand, tested out the BBQ (tough job!) and sent pictures of some truly tropical looking beaches whilst I was sat at my work desk (thanks dad!) So when Wednesday arrived we were packed and on the road by 8am ready to meet the family and start our mini break.
Living in Devon means that I am fortunate to have beautiful stretches of coastline within minutes of home to explore and enjoy however, I don’t appreciate this enough and have decided to make it my mission to get to know Devon a little more!
This week beautiful Budleigh Salterton was on my hit list, with its perfect pebble beach stretching for 2 miles and lagoon like sea, Ian and I wondered why it had taken so long to return to this peaceful sea side town!
