Last Saturday I indulged in my first festive activity of 2016, I donned the Christmas jumper, slicked on that red lip, munched on my first mince pie and OMG what fun we had….Emily or American Emily as we/I like to call her was super organised this year and had seen advertised Christmas wreath making workshops. Wreath making is something I have always wanted to do and with Emily’s promise of prosecco whilst we get crafty I obviously jumped at the chance to book a space!
Excitedly clutching our mince pies and prosecco we pulled up to Killerton House (A National Trust property) to be greeted by Sarah Pepper ,the most lovely bubbly and fun florist ever! Once at our work station and after a quick welcome plus demo, we were set loose to start ‘haying up’ our wreath and diving into the foliage to make some gorgeous bundles ready to twine.
A few holly leaf injury’s later (Ella) and swigs of prosecco in paper cups (yep we are THAT classy) we had some pretty impressive foliage wreaths ready for the fun part…SPRAY GLITTER!!
All glittered up, we dove into the hefty ribbon box to select our piece for the all important bow. Sarah being the pro she is, whipped up a bow in 2 seconds, wow it isn’t as easy as it looks, after much fiddling and faffing…viola are wreaths were taking some great shape! It was time to decorate and embellish, the choice of goodies ranging from pine cones, glittered berries, cinnamon sticks, ball balls..oh my choice was endless and time was running out! I quickly gathered up some pine cones, wired them on and before you knew it we were wrapping up ready to take our wreaths home.
After a quick photo op by the Christmas tree and some logistical wreath positioning in the car (Thanks Carly for your massive beast of a wreath ha) we were on our way home, texting our husbands to get the hammers at the ready to put these babies up.
We all agreed we had the best day; Sarah playing a big part, she made the workshop sooo incredibly fun, her support and guidance was amazing and she encouraged us to have a laugh whilst getting creative..I am already looking forward to doing more workshops with her..especially Christmas 2017, nothing like planning ahead ha..
