Caramel and Chocolate layered Oat crunch…

Oat crunch is surely something I can pass off as half good for you right?? I mean its oats and that’s a beneficial aspect to any diet?..Ok joke aside its one of the easiest things to whip up and bake for a massive sugar hit and in this case a good lashing of caramel and chocolate.

For these little slices of crunch you will need…

Ingredients

*200g Soft brown sugar

*200g unsalted butter

*2 tbs of maple syrup

*350g of oats

*397g can of carnation caramel

*350g plain chocolate

*1 tbs of coconut oil

Method

*Pre heat the oven to 150 degrees and line a large tin with greased proof paper

*Place the sugar, butter and syrup in a sauce pan and melt

*Take the pan of the heat and stir in the oats, mix thoroughly making sure its all combined

*Pour the mix into the tin, press down and bake for 40 minutes

*Once the mixture has completely cooled start to prepare the caramel as per cans instructions (If the liquid becomes too thin then pop it on to boil)

*Spread the caramel over the oat mixture and let it set in the fridge until firm

*Melt the chocolate and add the oil (the oil allows the chocolate to be cut easily) stir and then pour into the tin

*Once set, cut up and a grab a slice…you need to test it after all and prepare for the sugar shakes!
