Living in Devon means that I am fortunate to have beautiful stretches of coastline within minutes of home to explore and enjoy however, I don’t appreciate this enough and have decided to make it my mission to get to know Devon a little more!
This week beautiful Budleigh Salterton was on my hit list, with its perfect pebble beach stretching for 2 miles and lagoon like sea, Ian and I wondered why it had taken so long to return to this peaceful sea side town!
Luckily we picked one of the sunniest days so far (Cue panic for summer appropriate clothes- another post needed for this!) Once car parked, buggy set and with what feels like the whole contents of our house with us (anyone with a small child will understand) we were ready to check it out.
Walking briefly through this quaint town we instantly noticed how quiet it seemed, no groups of tourists, no loud arcades, just small thriving businesses, friendly cafes and a cute little stream casually flowing amongst it all! With a quick turn around the corner we were presented with the most amazing glistening sea and gorgeous array of wild flowers so we decided to pitch up for a second and enjoy this postcard perfect view!
Random fact- J.K. Rowling’s ‘HARRY POTTER’, the place “Budleigh Babberton” is named after Budleigh Salterton.
After a bit of good ol’ people watching, we walked further down the seafront, passing cute hidden doors, 3 delicious looking beach cafes and some pebble art (seriously how do they do it on ground level and make it look that good)
Tick off a snooze for the little man, plenty of sea air for us and enough lusting over coloured beach huts, time had flown and it was approaching baby feeding time, so we headed back to the car but not without first promising ourselves we would be back soon to try one of the beach side cafes and perhaps face plant an ice cream or two!
See you soon Budleigh
